The Setting

Somewhere in the middle of Montana.

Cowgirl Camp takes place off the beaten path. We stay at working cattle ranches on vast acreages with tent and/or cabin-style lodging. This is your chance to get away from it all and see parts of Montana’s rangeland from horseback the way few ever get to. You’ll have limited cell service & no wifi, and we encourage you to leave the hustle and bustle at home and immerse yourself in the quiet found on these remote ranches.

One of the many things that sets Cowgirl Camp apart is the all female team. You’ll be welcomed by the ultimate girl gang who are living this life day in and day out. From working cowgirls to ranchers, homesteaders, and outdoorswomen, our team will share their knowledge - and the unvarnished beauty of working with horses and livestock - with you.

the TEAM

You’ll ride an established ranch horse who is suited to your riding ability. The horse string is primarily made up of quarter horses. Our steeds are used to herding cattle and taking their riders on all manner of terrain. We prioritize good horsemanship and will teach you how to connect with, and listen to, your horse.

We operate out of several difference ranches, and lodging is unique at each one. Please see camp descriptions for more specifics. At Wide Sky Adventures, you’ll be glamping in individual canvas teepee-style tents with nearby outdoor shower. Fall asleep to the sound of the nearby river and elk bugling in the distance.

Logistics

Arrival: pickup takes place at the Bozeman airport (BZN) on Day 1, mid-morning. We’ll shuttle you to the ranch from there! You can also follow us in your own vehicle (though, depending on where we’re headed you’ll want to make sure you have a spare).

Departure: mid-day on Day 4 we will (sadly) depart the ranch and head back to the Bozeman airport. 

We recommend arriving the day BEFORE your camp begins. That way you are insulated in case of travel delays, and we are able to begin as early as possible on Day 1. Often attendees will meet up the night before for dinner, and even share lodging! We will connect you all in advance. We also recommend booking your departing flights after 12 pm on Day 4, or even the following day. This allows us to maximize our time together!

Trip Insurance: we recommend purchasing separate trip insurance and flight insurance.

None of that is the human part. No one there was like me, but everyone was like me. Not only did I feel accepted, I felt comfortable. I felt at ease.
